Why I Keep a Cabled Drive-Thru Intercom System on Hand

December 19, 2016 ·

As a QSR owner and operator for many years, I like to keep my drive-thru lane equipped with the latest drive-thru system technologies, such as high-definition headsets, digital menuboards, and the latest in drive-thru timers. Not only does this enable my staff to work more efficiently, it also sends a message to customers that we’re committed to giving them the best drive-thru experience possible.

But there’s one area where I am definitely low-tech. I always keep a cabled drive-thru intercom system at the ready in case my high-tech equipment unexpectedly conks out on us. I had my entire system go down one time and it was not fun! However, it taught me a good lesson about being prepared ahead of time. Since then I have always made sure to have an old-fashioned drive-thru intercom system at the ready.

When I first went shopping for a cabled intercom system, I didn’t know where to look. But then I discovered CE sells and services them. I’ve always used CE to repair my broken drive-thru headset parts, and have found them to be very reliable. So I ended up going with one of their refurbished units, which saved me a hunk of money.

At home, I keep plenty of candles and flashlights handy – just in case. As I say, I always like to be prepared!
