Are Your POS Screens and Fingerprint Readers Safe?

August 2, 2021 ·

With COVID-19 cases increasing in many areas, drive-thrus must continue to focus on cleaning and disinfectant protocols for their drive-thru parts and equipment. This includes POS hardware and fingerprint readers, which also have the potential to spread viruses by contact.

To safely clean your POS hardware, first turn off the terminal. The wipe down the system with an alcohol-based disinfectant wipe or a towel dampened with carbonated water. Apply the water directly to the towel, not the terminal.

To clean fingerprint readers, apply a piece of adhesive cellophane tape to the window and then peel it off. Then apply Windex or an Ethanol or Isopropanol solution a lint-free hand towel or cotton swab and gently wipe the capture area.

Never pour liquid onto the reader window or use alcohol-based cleaners.

If you need repairs to your headsets, timers or other drive-thru parts, it’s good to know that CE sanitizes all our repairs before sending them back to you. This includes replacing the foam and padding on all repairs as well as providing extra ear pads in the return shipment.
