How to Make Headset Batteries Last Longer

December 6, 2016 ·

Headset batteries aren’t one of the more expensive items on the drive-thru equipment budget, but every penny adds up. So if you’re burning through batteries faster than usual, here are some tips for getting them to last as long as possible.

  • Clean your batteries. A clean battery will last longer than a dirty one. Regularly clean your battery and headset/beltpac contacts with an alcohol swab.
  • Don’t neglect the batter charger. It also helps to clean your battery charger ports from time to time, making sure they are dry before charging any batteries.
  • Be thrifty. To save battery power, turn off your headsets and beltpacs when not in use.
  • Don’t charge unless needed. To maximize the number of charge cycles in drive-thru batteries, only charge when the batteries are low on power. Once charges, store all batteries in a cool, dry place.
  • Use regular outlets. Using regular outlets (instead of switched or timed outlets) extends the life of your batteries by ensuring they go through the entire charge cycle.
  • Replace old batteries. Drive-thru batteries are designed to last up to two years. Even if they’re still working at that age, it’s a good idea to replace them rather than risk a loss of power during busy dayparts.

Please be good to the environment by disposing of your old batteries at an e-waste recycling facility. Or, send them back to CE for disposal and take advantage of our selection of new HME, 3M, and Panasonic headset batteries. Call 877-731-0334 today!
